The Battle of Rio Dorado

Hey, y'all. Here we are again at the weekend. Not a lot of movies coming out tonight that I want to see. If I were going, I'd go see Brad Pitt in World War Z. I probably won't go.     Hey, the British Open is being fought this weekend. Need to set my DVR...      Hey. Guess what? The other day I was driving down I-75 through the Chattanooga area and stopped at a used bookstore called McKay's. The place is huge. It has two floors. The top floor has comics, CD's and vinyl records, including a few 45's.      The bottom floor has talking books, DVDs, television series on DVD and a huge amount of hardback and paperback books. Years ago, when they were in an older building, I went to the place and the prices were really cheap. I think that the prices are a bit higher now. Still, I bought a sackful of stuff for about $30. I bought ten comic books for $1 a piece. Mostly the older super heroes I used to follow. I t...

Fair(?)Way Solitaire (Update)

Hey, everyone. I have several things to talk about today. 1) Carley has (had) a game she really liked called Fairway Solitaire . It is a card game with a golf theme and I liked it myself, though it is very strange for me to like a card game. She was really advanced in this game, had lots of trophies and 'Golf Bucks' and played it every day to get the bonuses. Well, she did an update and lost all her awards, game money and the game itself is crashed and irretrievable, I guess. Does anything make a gamer more irate? Nooooooo. Then, instead of restoring the existing game, Big Fish Games comes out with the new Fairway Solitaire for $2.99. This begs the question, "Was the update just a ploy to get rid of everyone's existing game in order to sell them the new game?" I'm a suspicious bloke, I guess. The new game came out the day before the update. 'Nuff said. 2) Sad morning in Minnesota. As a hard-core football fan, I feel for the Vikings. They didn't...

Deep Thoughts On Super Heroes

Hey, everyone. I have spent some time in meditation this week, seeking a greater level of peace and contentment. Since my personality and maturity run to the 15 year old level, despite my advanced age, here's the thoughts that are uppermost in my mind. 1) Why is Spiderman so darn unlucky? I'd like to see the dude happy, prosperous and blessed. I was so happy for him, about 40 years ago, when he bought his first motorcycle. 2) Why is it always rainy in Gotham City? Why can't Batman move to Nassau and wear a Speedo, get a tan and all that? Or, he could just add a touch of color to his drab costume. Maybe a rainbow-hued scarf around his neck? 3) What do the stars signify, if anything, on Wonder Woman's blue panties? Is it similar to the U.S. flag? Are there that many city-states on her island nation? Does Hera have that many daughters? This is something that must be brought to light. It is something worthy of an Indiana Jones movie. I need a battered Fedor...

Gaming Chat: Protoxide, Ghost Detective and Others

Hey,everyone. It's a foggy night at the green retreat. Do you remember when I mentioned the idea I had for comics? I wanted to have an on-line store for comics similar to I-Tunes for music, except that I would offer any comic ever published for 99 cents each. I was on comixology the other day and saw that they had quite a few older comics for $1.99 each, with a few for 99 cents. I downloaded a copy of a 50 year old issue of Wonder Woman. In this issue she was wearing a skirt instead of the short-shorts. That may tell you how old it was. That site needs someone really good to work on it and make it easier to find stuff. I typed in things like 1960's comics or 1960's Spiderman, Thor etc. and got back a negative result. I think they should drop their prices on older books, also. Current comics are $3.99 each with no ink, no paper to buy. Yikes! Let's gouge the consumer, everybody else does.     Lest I rant, I'll switch over to gaming. Let me start ...
