The Shadowgun Manifesto

    Hey, everyone. Shadowgun is a great game for IOS but I've decided to give it a one star rating on the app store. The reason why? The Driller. At the end of the 4th level, John Slade (Alias, me) is deep in the bowels of the planet. A huge drilling machine chases him through the cavern as he flees and tries to shoot out these lights. So far I have failed to pass this level about 200 times. The driller crushes me again and again. 200 times I've dealt with this ignominy. This is after choosing what is supposed to be the 'easy' difficulty level.
    You buy a freakin' game for $7.99. You play, you work, you strive. You even kill the dreaded Cyber Lobster. Then you don't get to play the last half or more of the game because some geek does not understand the definition of the word 'easy'. Let me read to you from Webster's dictionary.
Easy-Not difficult. Free from anxiety or pain. Comfortable, restful. Free from constraint. Not severe. Unhurried. Gradual.
     After my 200 attempts to beat this level, I have decided to issue the Shadowgun Manifesto. Henceforth, whenever I buy a game that, when placed on the 'easy' difficulty level, causes me to have to play the same level more than 20 times, I will give it a one star review on the app store and will blog about how frustrating it is. I know that this is a small measure of payback but it at least gives me a voice. It eases my pain.
      I'd like to remind developers everywhere that there are a lot of people who spend their money with you and we are not all good players. In fact, some of us are fledgling players. It is good that you give us an easy button, but if 'easy' is not truly easy we may get discouraged and quit buying the @#%^ games. Okay?
     On a different subject. Why has my I-Pad slowed down since I put IOS 5 on it? Everything is slower. Plus, a single touch doesn't do what it used to. For most functions I have to touch once, twice, sometimes more before it responds. I heard that if you sign up for the cloud that it will be faster, but if you just back up to your computer, as I'm doing, things will slow down. I'm sure they will improve IOS 5 but for right now, I don't like it. Sorry about the rant. Guess I'm in a bad mood. But sometimes it is EASY to get in a bad mood.

P.S. I have all the updates on Shadowgun and was unsuccessful with it before IOS 5. Just so you know.

    I am truly relieved to see there are other people like you that faced the same problem with this level in ShadowGuns. It´s really a absurd cause in the game´s credits, it is shown names of people who tested it and I guess gave their approval for all levels. And as you, I´ve tried to clear this level almost 200 times and no sucess. It is just impossible to run, turn back, shoot the lasers, turn back again and run to the end. I´m going to write a notice to the developers of Shadowgun telling them about my disappointment cause I purchased this game and not got it for free.

    Same problem with running backwards and doing the shooting - I just get stuck on rocks again and again. Obviously, other people manage it some of the time - perhaps their UI is more responsive or something - but I bet a lot simply give up like I have.

      Yeah, you're right. This is why I think that eventually we'll see most premium games have an easy setting or a way to skip the 'sticking points'. In effect, you are only buying a fourth of a game, or a half. It is very frustrating. In fact, I've seen a lot of games address this already. Thanks again for your comment.

Batman Lives In Washington, DC

    Hey, everyone. I just read an interesting article on Washington Post.Com by Mike Rosenwald. It was titled Who Is the Route 29 Batman? This is a true story about a guy that the cops pulled over. The guy was driving a black Lamborghini with Batman plates. There were yellow Batman symbols on the doors. They had a video from the police car that showed him being pulled over. He was wearing a Bat-suit which he said cost him $5000. His gig is that he visits sick children in area hospitals and hands out Bat-Toys and Bat-books to cheer the kids up.     His name is Lenny B. Robinson and he says that the 'B' stands for Batman. He is perfectly sane and is just a good dude trying to make a difference. He is a self-made millionaire and is currently having a duplicate of the Batmobile custom-made at a cost of $250,000.    It was a hoot, watching the cops having their pictures made with the Bat Guy. Cake Is Better Than Swords

Hey, everyone. On Thanksgiving, we had a get-together here at The Author's Green Retreat. One lady brought a cake which I wanted to show you. It had the look of a Roman Coliseum about it. Inside it was just as decadent...and fun, as ancient Rome. When I cut it open, homemade marshmallow cream began to ooze out in several spots, running over the chocolate cake and peanut butter icing. It is best served warm so the cream is fluid. Very tasty. The same lady, and her children, are people who have played a lot of Skyrim. They gave me some pointers on the game because I am having problems with it. They taught me how to fast travel, and a ton of other things, but the main thing was the armor and clothing problem.
