The Game That Deserved A Second Chance

Hey, everyone. A few months ago I wrote a blog post about a game called Six Guns. I was very excited about this western-themed game. It was a huge game, very deep, and commanded the better part of a gig of space on the Padster. The graphics were very nice, also. Well, what happened was sad. The game sent me out to a place called Aspa Hill. There was a special tree there, which the Indians revered. I was supposed to save it from being burned down, which I did. For some reason I never got credit for this shootout with several bad guys. Three on one and I put them in Boot Hill. But thereafter, the game kept wanting me to go back to that !#** tree. I wasn't able to go on the cool missions at creepy forts which were being attacked by ghouls. I didn't get sent into dark mine shafts where flaming rivers of lava flowed. Finally, I gave up on the game with so much promise and deleted it from my device. I mean, that is a lot of space and if you can't play the stupid game, why keep it around? I actually did keep it for a while, hoping for an update. An update came but it did not fix the problemo.
So my game, which is free, by the way, languished in the ether, somewhere, for months. Today, I thought about it and decided to give it another try, sort of like a human who had shown so much promise but had messed up badly. I felt it deserved a second chance. This time the game has performed admirably and with the retina display on the new I-Pad, the graphics are superb.
At one point tonight, I rode my horse out to Ft. Ghost on a mission. They were having some severe trouble with ghosts and other supernatural beings. It was night when I got there and the desert landscape was beautiful under the moonlight, with the dark, blue sky atwinkle with stars. Beautiful until... I was informed that a wave of evil beings was descending on the fort. I ran to the top wall, where I could prepare for the attack. I could see the wraiths coming from the desert. It really didn't matter, I suppose, that the old walls had fallen down in ruins, in many places, but I would have preferred a solid wall to my back, that I could sell my life most dearly. I faced the steps and awaited the onslaught. Then I drew my rusty, piece of crap pistol and opened fire as they flowed up the stairs. It was taking several shots to kill each ghoul and chills ran up my spine,(and other places), but I 'manned up' and defeated the first wave. Then I had a moment's respite before their brethren came upon me.
This game has many missions. There are 32 levels with several missions per level. There are a lot of in-apps but so far I have enjoyed the game without buying anything with real money. I have used my reward money to buy increases in the effectiveness of my gun. You can get better horses, guns, health elixirs, cowboy clothes etc. I like the in-game western music, by the way.
When you go all the way through level 1's missions, you get sent to Oregon, from Arizona where the game originates. I just went into a creepy mine to rescue a captive woman, killing some apparitions in the process. I regret to say that the damsel in distress was not terribly attractive, but I did my job as a gunman nonetheless. That's the way I roll. (She wore her hair in a bun and looked like a school marm.) It was funny because I had been told to rescue a woman. The first cell I went to, I opened the door and this monster came at me! I shot it and went to the next cell and the woman was there. It  was fortunate that I am swift on the draw, like my character, Cedric Gant, of the Notch Series.
So, you might want to try this freebie. If you do, be aware that the game will turn on your notifications. You should go to settings, notifications, then turn off notifications for Six Guns. At least that's what I did.
This game may strike me like a viper in the near future and render me in a stuck condition like so many others, but tonight I was able to play it for a couple of hours without getting very aggravated. For that reason, I call this "The Game That Deserved a Second Chance".

P.S. Try a song called I Won't Let Go by Rascal Flatts. If you ever have someone love you like this, you will have had just about the best thing this world has to offer. Good night.

Shadowgun: Killing The Windbreaker

Hey, everyone. I thought it might be a good time for a bit of an update on the riveting game called Shadowgun. Consider this your spoiler alert and tune out if you want to.     Once you get past the dreaded Driller, things get better but you are certainly not out of the woods. You will want to make sure you keep a full clip in your gun as you stroll through the realm of the evil and crazy Dr. Simon. But hey, you're John Slade, the Shadowgun, and wherever you set your foot is the place to which your authority extends.      I love the way that some of the barriers disintegrate under the impact of bullets. I didn't learn this at my mother's knee but I darn sure know it now. I have learned that there are certain places it is good to plan on using the rocket launcher. Keep your stock of those filled. There are these transporter guys who are aggressive punks. The only way they respect you is if you kill them, so that's the way I roll. As you know by now, their strategy

Shadowgun: Crushing The Driller On Level 4

Hey, everyone. Let's talk about the game called Shadowgun, the I-Pad game with which I have a love-hate relationship. Most of you who made it past the evil Cyber Lobster are doubtless locked in a death struggle with the Driller at the end of level 4. At this point you have been in the cave for a long time. The Driller breaks through the rock wall and chases you through the tunnel as you try to shoot out the green lights which slows the Driller down. If you are slick enough to shoot out all the lights and emerge from the cave, a rolling door crashes on the Driller and crushes his aggravating carcass. I have tried and failed to beat the Driller at least 250 times. I hate the Driller to the heights and depths my soul can reach. I hate it like a plague. I hate it with intensity of feeling. I hate it like a rich man hates taxes. Excuse me, I got carried away.       We had a big dinner here at the green retreat and my friend Trevor was here today. He is my gaming consultant. I tol

Men In Black 3, Just Empty Black Suits?

Hey, everyone, out there in the world! Nice of you to stop by. Today I downloaded Men In Black 3 for I-Pad. There were a number of positive reviews on the app store, but there were several reviews that complained about the game failing to open. This was my experience. It opened to the screen shown above and froze there. At least it was free. I have an I-Pad 3, so maybe you will have better luck with yours.     EA games is having a big sale for the holiday weekend. I already have most of the titles which are on sale, however. I did buy several games this weekend, though, and I'd like to tell you about them.    Get Out of My Galaxy is a Mario type of space game in which you control a monster with 4 arms. The dude eats rocks and has a penchant for slapping little cone-headed aliens. There are a certain number of aliens to slap on every planet, then you move on to the next world. There are power-ups to grab as you go along, for health and other things. There is prickly vegetatio
